The Extended Health Benefits Plan covers a broad range of Health related services to protect you and your dependents.

NEW FOR JANUARY 1, 2023!
Mental Health Practitioners – your combined annual maximum is increasing from $850 to $1,500 per person per calendar year
- the calendar year maximum is combined for the services of clinical psychologists, social workers, clinical counsellors, marriage/family therapists and psychotherapists
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Equipment and Insulin Pumps – currently these benefits have a combined maximum of $1,000 per person every five years. Separate maximums will be implemented as follows:
- CPAP equipment – $1,000 maximum per person every five years
- Insulin pumps – $1,000 maximum per person every five years
Glucose Monitoring coverage effective January 1, 2022 – your Health plan has been expanded to cover two types of glucose monitoring systems (details below assume your plan reimburses 80% of eligible expenses – please refer to your benefits booklet for your coverage amount).
- Flash Glucose Monitoring: The plan covers 80% of the cost of one reader every 36 months.
Plus 80% of the cost of sensors up to a maximum of $2,000 per calendar year.
Eligibility requirement: Insulin use.
- Continuous Glucose Monitoring: The plan covers 80% of the cost of one reader every 60 months.
Plus 80% of the cost of sensors and transmitters up to a combined maximum of $3,000 per calendar year.
Eligibility requirement: Type 1 diabetes.
- The Special Authorization Form must be completed in order for Manitoba Blue Cross to determine eligibility for glucose monitoring claims. Once you’ve completed the form, please submit it to Manitoba Blue Cross for review at the address on the form. If approved, the form will remain on your file and will not be required again.
Survivor Benefit added September 1, 2021 – your eligible dependents can continue their current Health and Dental coverage for up to 24 months, with premium, in the event of your death. Your dependents will be contacted to complete the necessary form if they wish to take advantage of survivor benefits.
